Gathanga Ndung’u is an urban scholar, biotechnologist, a human rights’ defender, a researcher (on political and socio-economic challenges facing in Nairobi’s informal settlements), writer and a published author of Mathare-An Urban Bastion of Anti-Oppression Struggle in Kenya. He is an ecological, climate andfood activist from Mathare Social Justice Centre in Mathare under the Social Justice Movement in Kenya.

He is also a member of Route To Food Alliance in Nairobi which advocates for food security, sovereignty and affordable quality foods in the country. He is a Pan-Africanist and a history enthusiast engaging in community organizing and mobilizing with the aim of recreating safe communities and a just nation.
