Partnerships with MMA

At Migrant Narratives Africa, partnerships are at the heart of our mission to protect migrant communities and strengthen trust in information.

Media Challenge Initiative and Debunk Media Initiative

In 2024, we partnered with Media Challenge Initiative and Debunk Media Initiative, supported by the US Mission in Uganda, to develop a fact-checking chatbot called Migrant Check, affectionately known as Margret. Margret is available on our website and helps debunk migration misinformation while fostering a more informed and empathetic understanding of migration issues.

By promoting accurate information, Margret supports the well-being and
integration of migrants and enhances community harmony. This work is vital in helping societies avoid xenophobia, conflict, and division, ensuring that communities across Africa can coexist peacefully.

DW Akademie

In 2026, we have partnered with the European Union, represented by DW Akademie, through Kenya’s TrustLab – Securing Truth & Strengthening Communities. This collaboration focuses on safeguarding refugee data in Nairobi. Together, we provide a toll-free 24/7 helpline to respond to data privacy enquiries and connect refugees to legitimate organizations offering pro bono legal services, verified relocation programs, jobs, and educational scholarships.

We conduct training sessions on digital data privacy rights under Article 31 of Kenya’s Constitution and the Data Protection Act of 2019, reaching both refugees and professionals such as journalists and CSOs. In addition, we run social media campaigns to raise awareness of data privacy issues in Nairobi and beyond.

Through these efforts, refugees gain practical skills in digital security, professionals strengthen their capacity to protect vulnerable communities, and thousands of people engage with campaigns that highlight the importance of safeguarding personal data.

Together with our partners, we are building tools, networks, and knowledge that protect truth, empower migrants, and ensure their stories are told with dignity.
